Absolutely! Our club is open to all skill levels, including complete beginners. Many of our players started without any prior experience. We’ll walk you through the basics, provide all the equipment you need, and make sure you feel welcome and supported from your very first session. Just bring a pair of runners (or preferably cleats) and a positive attitude — we’ll take care of the rest!
We provide bats, balls, and gloves for beginners. If you have your own gear, feel free to bring it along!
Comfortable sportswear and runners are perfect. If you're playing regularly, we recommend cleats or studded boots for better grip.
Yes! We offer taster sessions or open training days where you can give it a go with no pressure.
We’re a mix of competitive and social. Some teams play to win, others play for the laughs. There’s space for everyone.
We’re an inclusive club with mixed-gender teams, and we welcome players of all genders. The league games are mixed gender and teams must have a maximum of 5 of any one gender (of 10 fielding players). There are opportunities to play in All Female (including trans and non-binary) and All Male (including trans and non-binary) tournaments throughout the season.
Absolutely. We are proudly inclusive and welcome people of all identities and backgrounds. We participate in inclusivity events regularly (as you will see from some of our photos!). In fact, Hippetys were instrumental in setting up LGBT+ Softball, an organisation that advocates for diversity and inclusion of LGBT+ players within the sport, and the Stoneballerz, Ireland's first LGBT+ Softball Team.
We usually train at Terenure College Rugby Football Club and our home field is either Walkinstown Park or Terenure College RFC (depending on your team). We train on Sunday afternoons and game nights are once a week for each team, either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (depending on your team). We play equal number of home and away games so half of our games are at our home field and the other half are played around the greater Dublin area. Check out Our Teams page for more info on days for each of our teams!
We welcome adult players (18+). We have players from early 20s right up to their mid-60s, it really is a sport for all ages! If you're looking for youth or teen leagues, let us know — we may be able to refer you.
Yep! We regularly run beginner sessions, skills workshops, and team practices.
